FAQs

Is the hackathon free to attend?

Yes, the event is 100% free—including food, drinks, and full access to the SuperAI conference. However, to ensure attendance, we require a small refundable deposit from each participant. This deposit will be fully refunded once you participate and submit your project (even if partially completed).

Who is this event for?

This hackathon is designed for:

  • Developers and product managers new to AI
  • Students and researchers seeking hands-on experience
  • Idea-stage founders who want to accelerate their ideas and showcase their product to investors

While we welcome teams with diverse skill sets, at least one team member must be technically proficient. You don’t need to be an AI expert, but your team should be capable of building and debugging a working AI product by the end of the hackathon.

Can international participants join remotely, or must they attend physically?

While the hackathon is open to participants globally, physical attendance at the venue in Singapore is required. We do not offer online participation for this event.

Will SuperAI provide travel scholarships or cover accommodation?

The event itself is free-of-charge, including food during the event. However, we do not cover travel, visa fees, or accommodation costs. There will be rest and chill-out spaces at the venue to relax or nap on a first-come, first-served basis. Note that there are no shower facilities at the venue, so we recommend participants arrange comfortable accommodation nearby.

Can I receive a visa invitation letter?

Yes! Confirmed participants who require visa invitation letters should contact us at ecosystem@superai.com and provide your full name (as on your passport), date of birth, and passport number.

How many members are allowed on my team?

Teams must consist of 2 to 4 members.

What if I don’t have a team yet?

No worries—many participants apply solo! We’ll help you find a team during our virtual pre-event team formation session or at check-in on Day 0. You’ll also have access to a Slack/Telegram channel where you can pitch your idea or join someone else’s. We strongly encourage collaboration, and teams of 2 to 4 people are required to compete.

Can I start working on my project before the event begins?

No. To maintain fairness, participants may not work on their hackathon projects before the official hacking period begins. However, you’re encouraged to familiarize yourself with AWS Q and other technologies or tools beforehand.

What are some tips for submitting a successful application?

Provide as much detail as possible in your application, including your technical skills, prior experience, and project ideas. Clearly articulate your motivation and describe what you plan to build. Applications are reviewed based on motivation, clarity of intent, and diversity of skill sets. We welcome both technical and non-technical applicants—just tell us how you want to contribute!
